Account Executive – Inside Sales (US & UK)

The Position:

As an Account Executive with Network Instruments, you will be responsible for securing maximum sales volume for company products from customers within the territory to which assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Protect existing business and add new business by calling on current and prospective customers.
  • Maintain contacts with customers in relation to their requirements; make company services available to customers.
  • Perform missionary work on new products and new accounts, including assistance in writing customer specifications, influencing the placing of orders through proper channels.
  • Keep informed on new products and other general information of interest to customers.
  • Develop strategy and proposals; secure and renew orders; inform customers of supply and price trends; assist in inventory control; arrange delivery dates and other details of the sale.
  • Provide information as required on all aspects of customer satisfaction - product and service conformance to schedule, commercial and technical requirements.
  • Maintain product sales program within the territory and in support of market segment programs.
  • Keep current on competitive activity.
  • Keep records and make reports on all phases of activities: sales forecasting, sales plans, sales calls, and expense accounts.
  • Stay abreast of factors that affect the local market and report same.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years relevant work experience. Including Inside Sales experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Ability to successfully communicate with technical professionals.
  • Desire to learn a technical product.
  • Strict attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience in lead generation preferred.

Electrical Engineer

The Position:

Network Instruments LLC is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of implementing high speed FPGA design using VHDL and designing high-speed electronic circuits.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Bring cutting edge high-speed FPGA designs from specification to final production
  • Define and research components for use in design
  • Schematic entry and management using Orcad
  • Work with PCB layout designers for layout and checking the board files for correctness
  • Bring final design through regulatory testing

The individual must be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of VHDL design and verification
  • High speed digital and analog circuit design and troubleshooting

Optional Experience:

  • Ethernet/Fibre Channel experience
  • Embedded C/C++ code or PIC experience
  • RF Receiver experience
  • DSP experience

Sales Solutions Engineer – Seattle/Portland

The Position:

As a Sales Solutions Engineer, you will lead the technical portion of the sales process in conjunction with a sales representative and partner. The Sales Solutions Engineer is responsible for all product recommendations, technical solutions, and product positioning of a sale.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand product and service requirements.  Provides product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Analyzes clients' networks and needs in order to design solutions.
  • Conducts presentations on product benefits and technical attributes.  Gains customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
  • Delivers product training to end users and partners.  
  • Manages product installations and appropriate follow up.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Five years engineering and sales experience.  
  • Good knowledge of the product and market. Awareness of latest technology related to product and business.  Detailed knowledge of IP networks and design.
  • Solid sales technique.
  • Good communication skills, including ability to explain technical aspects to both technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Is able to travel 30-40% of the time.

Software Engineer – C/C++

The Position:

Assist in the development of network protocol analysis and network management software systems. The primary software platform is Windows 7, Server 2003/2008 and newer.

Software Engineer – Web Application Development

The Position:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with HTML5/JavaScript, CSS3
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with a JavaScript UI Framework (e.g. jQuery, Dojo, Closure, Ext JS, YUI)
  • Strong focus on user experience and workflow in interface designs
  • Experience testing and debugging both new and legacy constructs
  • Desire to create reusable and maintainable code
  • Critical thinking and the ability to structure elegant solutions to difficult problems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with jQuery and jQuery UI

Technical Support

The Position:

Network Instruments is currently seeking candidates with excellent verbal, written, and computer skills to join our Technical Support team. Our technical support department focuses on providing high quality support to our customer base via telephone, email and our user forums. We provide network analysis tools, both hardware and software, to network professionals for baselining and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver service and support to end-users by interacting with customers to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns, and requests about products and services.
  • Gather customer information and determine the issue by evaluating and analyzing the symptoms.
  • Use effective research techniques to find solutions via internal and external resources.
  • Document findings and relevant case data in support information systems.
  • Offer alternative solutions, where appropriate, with the objective of solving the customer's issue.
  • Organize ideas and communicate effectively with customers, technically skilled network engineers and engineering colleagues.
  • Effectively manage the customer support experience.  Manage case load, priorities, time commitments and service level agreements (SLA).
  • Complete QA test cases; manage workload and priorities to achieve SLA goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Able to manage and resolve complex customer issues.
  • 2 years of customer support and troubleshooting, or equivalent experience. 
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the OSI Model with emphasis on layers 4-7
  • Working knowledge of basic network troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of software and hardware testing procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CCNA or an AA in Networking or equivalent experience.

Software Quality Assurance Engineer

The Position:

Assists in the development of and performs test cases to verify functionality, data integrity, security, and overall usability of software.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creates, maintains, and executes test plans and test cases against our hardware and software platforms, including the environments and technologies used to perform the testing.
  • Estimates test efforts.
  • Analyzes and communicates test results.
  • Responsible for defect tracking.
  • Participates in the day-to-day QA activities.
  • Reviews requirements for consistency and accuracy.
  • Participates in the use of established test processes and methodologies.
  • Works with other departmental staff to achieve QA team objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Four+ years experience in Software Quality Assurance in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Experience testing web-based client-server systems, web services and desktop-based systems in Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Must be detail oriented, reliable and have the ability to work both in a team environment and alone with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Experience with all phases of software testing (Functional, Integration, Regression, User Acceptance, and Release Management).
  • In-depth knowledge of test planning, test case creation and test case execution.
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in networking, TCP/IP, and protocol analysis STRONGLY preferred.

Software Quality Senior Engineer

The Position:

Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overall quality assurance for software services and products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the daily activities of the quality assurance staff.
  • Identifies and manages implementation of test plans and cases based on leading edge techniques and statistical evaluation.
  • Develops, reviews, and publishes standards, policies and procedures for all functions involved with or related to the quality and testing of Software Products.
  • Establishes roles, reporting relationships, and responsibilities within the Quality Assurance Group. Also provides and maintains a workable test and defect tracking environment with the applicable tools.
  • Communicates major status of projects, test personnel, customer concerns, etc. to the Department Manager.
  • Performs majority of management for overall test risk/effectiveness.
  • Charged with implementing new test technologies, reports Industry and Technical Trends to both Peers and Senior Management.
  • Shares responsibility for internal and external customer software distribution and control of internally developed applications or Software Product Releases.
  • Periodically inspects completed quality control checklists, forms and other documents for conformance to prescribed standards.
  • Reviews and resolves software quality control problems/concerns with customers, test personnel or other personnel related to production of Software Services or Products. 

Qualifications:

  • Six+ years experience in Software Quality Assurance in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Experience testing web-based client-server systems, web services and desktop-based systems in Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Must be detail oriented, reliable and have the ability to work both in a team environment and alone with minimal direction and supervision.
