Network Instruments® to Acquire Sunbelt Software’s LanHound™ Customers
August 29, 2006 – Minneapolis, MN – Network Instruments, a leading provider of innovative analysis solutions for in-depth network intelligence and continuous availability, today announced its acquisition of Sunbelt Software’s LanHound customer base. Sunbelt Software will discontinue development and distribution of the LanHound network monitoring software, and its customers will be transitioned to Network Instruments award-winning Observer® network analyzer.
“This is a win-win situation for Sunbelt Software and Network Instruments,” said Douglas Smith, president and co-founder of Network Instruments. “For us, the acquisition further expands our customer base, particularly as we become the preferred choice in network monitoring and management across the enterprise. For Sunbelt, as they refine their business focus and move away from the analyzer market, it allows them to shift their customers to a more robust analysis platform like ours.”
Network Instruments will provide Observer software licenses and probes to current LanHound customers under maintenance. The Observer product family provides a complete series of powerful and scalable network analysis solutions. With its unique distributed network analysis architecture (NI-DNA™), the Observer product family is the only analyzer solution series to provide complete application analysis and integrated visibility across networks.
“Of all of the companies in the network analyzer market, Network Instruments was prepared to deliver the greatest value to LanHound customers,” said Alex Eckelberry, president of Sunbelt Software. “Their scalable platform easily meets the needs of our largest accounts, and they have the internal resources in place to make this transition seamless to the end-user. Observer is a compelling product providing our customers with more in-depth reporting and analysis capabilities as well as the ability to simultaneously monitor all communication traveling across their LAN, WAN, WLAN, gigabit and Fibre Channel networks.”
Network Instruments and Sunbelt are communicating with LanHound customers about the process to acquire Observer licenses. Specific terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.
