Network Instruments® Solutions Designated IBM Tivoli Ready

Integration speeds Tivoli users' resolution time through expert and root-cause analysis

December 10, 2008 – Minneapolis, MN — Network Instruments, a leading provider of innovative analysis solutions for in-depth intelligence and continuous availability, today announced IBM has certified its Observer performance monitoring and troubleshooting platform as Tivoli Ready.

IBM awarded the Tivoli Ready designation for the Observer® platform's integration with IBM Tivoli NetView. Through the integration, network professionals receive Observer alerts within the Tivoli console, and can drill from the management console's high-level performance views to the packet-level to apply the Observer platform's expert and back-in-time analysis processes.

The Observer platform integrates into Tivoli to provide enterprise-wide performance monitoring and root-cause analysis within a single solution. The Observer platform is composed of:

  • Observer Reporting Server (ORS): Connects to Observer consoles across the network, functioning as a centralized console for enterprise-wide performance monitoring and problem identification.
  • Observer Console: In-depth monitoring and analysis of application and network performance. Troubleshoot network problems and manage long-term network use.
  • GigaStor™: Provides massive data collection and unique time-based analysis that eliminates the need to recreate problems, rapidly decreasing resolution time. GigaStor navigates to the moment a problem happened, and provides a detailed packet-level view of before, during, and after the occurrence.
  • Software and Hardware Probes: Connect to Observer consoles and provide real-time monitoring and analysis of application performance and traffic throughout the network.
