From a higher level, the Observer Reporting Server provides enterprise-wide, aggregate reporting with real-time updates so you can ensure access to high-capacity links. Unlike other solutions, it also allows you to drill down from this level to troubleshoot at the packet level.
When a sporadic Gigabit or 10 Gb link issue is discovered, use the GigaStor retrospective network analysis appliance to rewind your network to the problem period and perform troubleshooting and analysis.
Ensure Nanosecond Precision
In environments where millions of dollars can be lost in a split-second, customers require extreme granularity and accuracy to monitor traffic traveling globally between appliances. The Observer GPS Time Synchronization System uses GPS satellites to manage timestamps of packets traveling between appliances on 10 Gb networks and guarantees accuracy within 150 nanoseconds.
Traditional monitoring relies on Network Time Protocol (NTP) to synchronize clocks on devices connected to the network to International Atomic Time. This typically ensures accuracy only within 30 milliseconds. The latest trading platforms, however, require latencies of less than five milliseconds and very low levels of packet loss. Without sub-millisecond accuracy, it’s impossible to correctly diagnose the cause or optimize the system.
