Monitoring Switches Made Simple
Sometimes re-inventing the wheel is the right thing to do—especially when the goal is a customer-centric solution. The Matrix Network Monitoring Switch (NMS) is just such an example. Before we explore what makes the Matrix unique and why it's the ideal choice. Let me first answer a common question: why did Network Instruments decide to enter such a mature market?
Two good reasons actually. First, network monitoring switches are a perfect complement to our GigaStor appliances. Our customers wanted an NMS product to complement our TAPs and packet-capture appliances. Second and more important, when Network Instruments assessed the NMS market we noted an absence of a cost effective, easy to use, yet powerful solution. There are many expensive solutions that are relatively simple to operate and manage. There are inexpensive solutions that compromise on usability or don't include key features. The Matrix achieves both.
Here is a quick list of key features:
- No more scattered programming. The new HTML5 GUI includes the concept of "rules" where all operations and routing are performed in a single central logical location. You'll love the intuitiveness of it and how just a couple mouse clicks will let you accomplish your objective.
- Extreme performance. Here is where we can capitalize on our strengths in hardware and software development. All packet manipulation and traffic routing is done directly in silicon. Packet trimming and de-duplication is a breeze while achieving impressively low latency.
- Price sensibility. Finally, it's here. A flexible licensing scheme in four-port increments (beginning with a default eight gigabit ports) at gigabit or 10 Gb speeds lets you easily expand as your monitoring demands increase. Included with each upgrade is all functionality. Should you require more than 24 ports, you can simply extend the cost-effectiveness across multiple 1024s using trunk ports.
So, without further ado behold the new Matrix 1024. All that power and performance neatly packaged in this sleek 1U form factor.
Scale up to 24 ports and beyond. Configure any port as a network or tool.
Hardware is exclusively designed to keep up at line-rate on fully saturated 10 Gb links.
Modify load balance settings or replicate traffic with two mouse clicks. Intuitive UI and centralized rules let you change traffic patterns in seconds.
Filtering, de-duplication, and packet trimming are executed fast. Traffic pre-processing can extend the life of legacy monitoring equipment or increase tool efficiency.
But just as Morpheus says in the movie "Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You'll have to see it for yourself" I encourage you to contact your local Network Instruments partner or sales rep to learn more about how this little box can begin making your life and that of your legacy monitoring tools easier.
