Updating Observer within a major version number
Download the latest Observer DEMO from our web site.
The procedure for updating within a major version (i.e. 5.0 -> 5.x) depends on the operating system you are updating:
For Windows 95/98:
Because Windows 95/98 can dynamically bind the VxD drivers required by Observer, you can just install the new version of Observer OVER the previous version. This will retain all of your filters and licnesing information.
For Windows NT 4.x
First make sure you have your licensing information available - you will need to use your existing license information to license the new install of Observer.
Next use Observer’s uninstall to remove the current version of Observer. Then install the new version, then license the new version.
Note: If you have set up any filter presets that you would like to save and use in the new install of Observer, then you will need to export these into a separate directory prior to running Observer’s uninstall. This is done by selecting the “Filters” -> “Export filter presets” in version 4.x and from the “FIle” -> “Export filter presets” in version 5.0. Once the new Observer is installed, you can import your old filter presets by selecting “Filters” -> “Import filter presets” or “File” -> “Import filter presets”. |
