Required RMON groups for various Observer RMON Extension displays
The following table shows what type of RMON (1 or 2) Probe support is required for each RMON Extension mode, and specifically which RMON groups are used to assemble the information needed for each mode.

RMON Probes that provide the ”Optional Groups” will show more accurate short term statistics. When the Optional Group is present, the Probe polls the network every second and thus keeps its own timing. When the Optional Group is not present, the timing is based on the RMON Extension’s Probe request period.
