Title: Upgrading or Updating a Network Instruments Product (all products)

Updating Or Upgrading Your Network Instruments Product
Updating or Upgrading any Network Instruments Product (with the exception of FarPRINT) can be done based on the following 3 scenarios:
   1) Updating Within The Same Major Version Number
   2) Upgrading To A New (Major) Version
   3) Upgrading From One User Count To A Higher User Count

1) Updating Within The Same Major Version Number
Updating within a major version (i.e. 5.0 -> 5.2) is free. Download the latest DEMO from our Download page, and use your existing activation numbers to "turn on" the latest DEMO.

Note: If the application you are updating has an uninstall program, please run this prior to installing the latest DEMO. Updates within a major version will only work for the same user counts (if your product is licensed by the user)

2) Upgrading To A New (Major) Version
Updates from any version to the next higher major release (i.e. 5.2 -> 6.0) are not free. The charge for the product update is typically 30% of the list price of the latest release.

Notes: The quote of 30% is only for updates from identical user counts, if your product is licensed by the user. If you are updating from one user count to another, please see the section below:

3) Upgrading From One User Count To A Higher User Count
Upgrades from one user count to a higher user count are charged based on the following formula:

x = original license list price
y = new license list price

cost = (x * .2) + (y - x)

So, for example, if you are upgrading from a 5-PC NIPrint (list price $119.00), to a 50-PC NIPrint (list price $595.00) the cost would be $499.80:

(119.00 * .2) + (595.00 - 119.00) = $499.80

Or, in words:
Upgrade cost = (update of previous version) + (New price for software - Paid for software)
